MATES Mentoring Program: Seeking Mentors for 2019

From: Michelle Gillard

Valid from: Monday 7 January 2019 to Friday 18 January 2019

The MATES Mentoring Program provides peer to peer mentoring support for first session undergraduate students. We are currently inviting students who have studied at Western for a minimum of two sessions to register to become a MATES mentor.

Our mentors meet with new students for one hour a week during the first eight weeks of session. This helps students meet other students, network with other students, gain knowledge and skills to settle into life at university. Our mentors are a friendly face on campus that assists the new student to feel a part of the Western Sydney University community.

As staff we often meet students who stand out to us as leaders and roles models and I would like to encourage you to share this volunteer opportunity with those students who you think would be a great peer mentor. Even if they decide not to register I am sure they will appreciate the compliment.

Students are invited to read the 'Mentor FAQs' and then register via the link: https://www.westernsydney.edu.au/mates (Mentor FAQs can be found in the drop down menu on the left).

If the student has any questions, please refer them to mates@westernsydney.edu.au
