Free, credited, Domestic Violence Alert workshop - 11 and 12 February

From: Andrea Earl

Valid from: Tuesday 15 January 2019 to Sunday 10 February 2019

We are partnering with Lifeline Macarthur to bring the Domestic Violence Alert workshop to Western for a second time. This session has an additional multicultural population focus, supporting the culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

The session will be held on our Bankstown campus.

As one previous session attendee found; the "session provided a great overview of family and domestic violence and increased (my) capacity to support others, both as part of my work and also through my personal networks".

With Australian statistics showing that, on average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner and one in four women have experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner since the age of 15, domestic violence is everyone's business!

Domestic Violence Alert (DV-Alert) is a two-day, nationally recognised training program that enables frontline workers to confidently:

* Recognise signs of domestic and family violence (DFV);
* Respond with appropriate care; and
* Refer people experiencing, or at risk of, domestic and family violence to appropriate support services if necessary in culturally and linguistically diverse communities

Completion of this training provides:
------------------------------------------------
* A Certificate of Attainment for the unit of competency CHCDFV001 - Recognise and Respond Appropriately to Domestic and Family Violence
* Points for professional development, specifically for nurses (Continuing Professional Development/CPD hours of the mandatory 20-hour requirement for annual registration; 13 Continuing Nurse Education/CNE hours of the 30-hour professional development annual requirement

In order to be eligible to register for the session, you must be:
