Changes to application and website logon process

From: Kerry Holling

Valid from: Friday 14 February 2020 to Friday 6 March 2020

ITDS have implemented a change in the way the Microsoft Authentication process is handled on WSU Staff and Lab machines in order to streamline the logon experience for various applications and websites including Office365 and staff email.

We have removed the logon prompts that staff and students currently receive when using Western staff and Lab computers with Office 365 installed. You will now be automatically logged in.

Various websites will change the logon process when using a Western staff or Lab machine, this is different dependant on the website and browser used. An example of the change is the streamlined process to logon to Staff Email (Online) from a staff computer. In the old process, you would be prompted for your WesternID, then password, followed by a message asking you to stay signed in. The new process will simply ask for your WesternID and then log you in.

Note: there will not be any changes to the way you logon to Western websites and applications from a non-Western computer.
