Launch of appeal to establish Bruce Braithwaite prize in Entomology

From: Robert Spooner-Hart

Valid from: Wednesday 4 March 2020 to Monday 30 March 2020

The Hawkesbury Foundation, with support from the Office of Advancement, has launched an Appeal to establish an annual prize in Entomology for Western Sydney students, to recognise the contributions made by former long-time senior staff member, Bruce Braithwaite, to Hawkesbury Agricultural College and UWS Hawkesbury.

Bruce, a research entomologist, was appointed as Deputy Principal and Principal Lecturer in Agriculture at Hawkesbury Agricultural College in 1968, subsequently holding positions of Acting Principal, and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture prior to his retirement in December 1986, then as a member of Hawkesbury Convocation until 1989. He was also author of 'Challenge and Change: The History of Hawkesbury Agricultural College 1996-1991'.

Bruce passed away in January this year.

We are seeking support from current and former staff and former students to establish a Prize in Entomology to honour Bruce’s contributions to agriculture and horticulture. Funds raised will be held in trust by the Hawkesbury Foundation, and will be used to fund the annual prize. Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Please find attached a Donation Form.

Completed forms should be sent to the Hawkesbury Foundation. For further information, please contact the Foundation office (details are on the donation form).
