An update from the Library

There have been significant changes to Library services and resources recently, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. See below for key updates and remember if you have further queries - you can contact the Online Librarian on email or chat via the Library website.

Operational hours and physical access
===============================

Online Librarian hours:
---------------------------
For Library queries, contact the Online Librarian via chat or email between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Use the online chat module on the library website.

Open hours:
----------------
Libraries are open between 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday. Your current Western ID card is required for swipe/tap access to enter all libraries. Physical distancing measures will remain in place. Self-service machines can be used to borrow and renew items. During open hours, a live Digital Service Desk is available to speak to or video chat with Library staff working remotely.

Easter closure:

All libraries will be closed from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive (Friday 10 – Monday 13 April). The Online Librarian will not operate over the Easter long weekend.

Extension of loans:
-----------------------
We have extended the due dates for most borrowed items to the end of Autumn session. Check ‘My Library’ for the new due date of your library items.

Suspension of requests, including Document Delivery:
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Library materials requesting processes have been suspended. Item holds and intercampus delivery requests can no longer be placed.

Requests for print material through Document Delivery are suspended. Where eligible, you can still request journal articles and book chapters, which will be emailed to you.

Remote-access to Library tools and resources:
------------------------------------------------------
Off-campus access to online resources is available as usual. Access key resources via the website including, but not limited to:
* Library SearchBox to find online scholarly resources
* MyLibrary for seeing what you have on loan and renewing items
* Library Online Tutorials: How to find academic resources, using Turnitin and more
* ResearchDirect
* Subject Guides
* Study Smart website: https://www.westernsydney.edu.au/studysmart
* Study Break: Popular Print Books, eBooks, Audiobooks.

Assignment assistance:

Students can get assignment writing feedback from Study Smart Online, powered by Studiosity or book a Study Smart Zoom session with a literacy advisor.

Referencing and citation assistance:

Students can book a Zoom with a Librarian session from the Library website for advice on referencing and citation.

RefQuest is an online game students’ can play to develop their referencing skills.

There is a dedicated page on the Library website with the latest status updates. From the website main menu, go to the ‘About Us’ menu and select 'Covid-19 Actions' from the drop-down.
