Join a Guinness World Record attempt: the World’s Biggest Virtual Olive Oil Tasting - Thursday 28 October

From: Robert Spooner-Hart

Valid from: Tuesday 21 September 2021 to Wednesday 29 September 2021

Dear colleagues,

Western Sydney University has a long history of research collaboration with the Australian olive industry, particularly in sustainable production of olive oil and table olives. Australia produces some of the world’s finest olive oils.

I have been contacted by one of my major research supporters and collaborators from Boundary Bend, Australia’s largest olive grower who produce Cobram Estate and Red Island oils, as well as olive leaf teas (Stone and Grove). They also are the initiators and major supporters of the Olive Wellness Institute, an international peer-reviewed science repository on the nutrition, health and wellness benefits of olives and olive products.

They have contacted me about a proposed attempt to set a Guinness World Records title for the World’s Biggest Virtual Olive Oil Tasting. If you are like me when I started working in olives (and knew only that Extra Virgin oil was supposed to be best), it’s really a bit more like wines, where variety (including blends), region, production techniques and time of harvest all influence the ultimate taste and quality of the resultant oil. So, just like wine tasting, there is olive oil tasting.

I am inviting you to have a fun and hopefully educational experience by joining me and other friends by participating in this event.

Details
---------
Date: Thursday 28 October
Time: 7.30 - 8.30 pm
Cost: $5 (if you use my Boundary Bend colleague, Leandro Ravetti’s, promotion code in the attached PDF)

It would be great if Western had a major presence in this activity as a community, and we all learned a bit more about olive oil.

Regards,

Robert
