Pat a Dog and Meditate on Stress Down Day – Thursday 25 July

From: Dearne Richards

Valid from: Tuesday 23 July 2019 to Wednesday 24 July 2019

This Thursday 25 July is Stress Down Day, a fun and easy initiative designed to reduce stress.

Meditate
------------
This Stress Down Day we would like to encourage you take the time to stress less by participating in a pre-recorded, guided meditation delivered by Dr Michael De Manincor, Postdoctoral Research Fellow with NICM Health Research Institute. The session only runs for five minutes and is a great tool to help reduce stress, especially for time poor staff.

Please visit https://www.westernsydney.edu.au/whs/whs/health_and_wellbeing/physical_health to access the recording.

Pat a dog
------------
We are also offering a Pat-A-Dog and stress less session on Kingswood campus, from 10.30am – 12.30pm, out the front of the library. We will be joined by the RSPCA and two lovely dogs who are currently listed for adoption at a shelter. Animals can bring so much joy to our lives, as well as many health benefits including, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, reducing feelings of loneliness, increasing feelings of social support and boosting your mood!

We ask if you can, to please donate to the RSPCA here https://hub.benojo.com/campaigns/western-sydney-university-fundraiser to help raise funds for our furry friends. Not only does giving and volunteering help the charities you donate to, but it turns out it is also good for your health! There is a growing body of evidence that gift giving, donating to charities or volunteering has a positive impact on your physical and mental health, reduces stress and depression, helps promote healthy social connections and a sense of purpose.
