Learning circles: Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement

From: Valentine Mukuria

Valid from: Tuesday 17 September 2019 to Thursday 26 September 2019

The Office of Engagement (OOE) invites you to participate in a learning circle as part of the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement (CCCE) – Australian Pilot project (Carnegieclassificationaustralia.com.au).

As one of 10 pilot partner institutions, it is an exciting time for Western to participate in this project, because it presents the University with an opportunity to explicitly recognise the work done with community partners through nomination of partner organisations that may be invited to participate in the CCCE. As part of the process of writing the institutional narrative for the Carnegie Project, OOE would like to invite staff on board this journey of institutional reflection, where we seek to gather information and share practice around the theme of University-Community Engagement.

The goals of learning circle are to:
----------------------------------------
1. Collaborate with the Office of Engagement to complete the Western institutional narrative for the 2020 Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement - Australian Pilot framework
2. Work together, as a learning community, to identify university-community engagement practices that can be shared across the institution through the Western Engagement Network (WEN)
3. Identify mechanisms for recognition and visibility of your work with the community partners you collaborate with.
