SoSS book launch, symposium and workshop: 'Disrupting Whiteness in Social Work' - Friday 20 March

From: Sue Veen

Valid from: Friday 14 February 2020 to Tuesday 10 March 2020

You are invited to join with the School of Social Sciences in celebrating the launch of 'Disrupting Whiteness in Social Work: Exploring Decolonisation in Pedagogy and Practice', edited by Sonia Tascón and Jim Ife. The book will be formally launched by Jasmina Bajraktarevic, Head of Community Development at STARTTS.

'Disrupting Whiteness in Social Work' focuses on the epistemic – the way in which knowledge is understood, constructed, transmitted and used. The chapter authors are social workers of different cultural backgrounds, exploring the assumed whiteness of mainstream social work knowledge, and ways this can be challenged, through decolonisation in social work education and in practice.
