The Office of General Counsel in partnership with Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing is inviting you to attend a Zoom webinar on the new Work Health and Safety obligations that all University staff should know.

o The duties of the University under WHS legislation including
• Its primary duty;
• Its additional duties in particular activities (i.e. controlling a workplace, or e.g. constructing a structure);
• The Individual duties of its Officers (those who make, or participate in making, decisions that affect the whole or a substantial part of
the University); and
• The Individual duties of its Employees (including subcontractors, volunteers, work experience students).
o Officer due diligence: in practice and consequences
o Recent key changes in the WHS legislation, and what is upcoming for 2024.

• What insights will you acquire once you have attended this webinar?
o Knowledge of the legal framework of the WHS legislation.
o Understanding of what the duties mean for the University.
o Insight into the current Trends and Issues, such as psychosocial hazards and risks, sexual harassment and discrimination, fatigue / hours
of work.
