Join Darkijung / Wonnarua Art Educator Aunty Michelle Napanangka Earl for an inspiring morning of art, stories and culture.

We are delighted to present this workshop as part of NAIDOC Celebrations. It is the perfect opportunity to gather around our big round tables and paint an Australian animal of your choosing, making your very own drink coaster.

During this workshop you will sketch up the design onto a pre-painted board and learn how to apply dot painting using acrylic paint in bold colours to make you unique individual design.

This is a relaxing creative process and Michelle weaves together stories and culture, connection to the land and art making with the opportunity to chat to other students and meet like-minded people.

Refreshments are provided to keep your creative energy up and you get to take home your completed art piece at the end of the workshop.

All art abilities welcome - this is a fun social class where you will learn to paint with the dot painting method. Please feel free to share this information with your students and encourage them to attend.

What to bring:

• All materials are provided
• Please wear clothes that are suitable for art making or bring an art apron or smock.

Please note registrations are for a single attendee - your WSU staff and students are asked to self-register. This is an event for WSU staff and students only.

This year’s NAIDOC theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.

The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
