Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace + World Breastfeeding Week

From: Kimberley Ann Pangilinan

Valid from: Thursday 1 August 2024 to Thursday 8 August 2024

World Breastfeeding Week is an annual event celebrated from 1st to 7th August in over 120 countries. Organised by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, this week aims to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and to support and promote breastfeeding practices worldwide.

Western Sydney University is proud to announce that we retain our Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace Accreditation, now in our fifth year.

This accreditation recognises that our University supports breastfeeding across our entire campus network – whether this is utilising our Parent Rooms, classroom or workspace and in our open environments. We have a dedicated policy and a number of resources specifically related to breastfeeding. Our dedicated breastfeeding policy sets out the provision of breastfeeding facilities, requirements for lactation breaks and that flexible work options are available for breastfeeding employees returning to work.

For more information about our Breastfeeding Support including a full list of our facilities please see the Equity and Diversity website - https://www.westernsydney.edu.au/equity-and-diversity/equality/family_support/breastfeeding_at_work
