Opportunity alert: Help fill student leadership positions!

From: Grant Murray

Valid from: Friday 17 May 2024 to Sunday 26 May 2024

Dear Colleagues,

We need your assistance in spreading the word about exciting opportunities for student leadership within our university community!

The Student Representative Council (SRC), Student Newspaper, and Volunteer Framework Working Group currently have open student leadership opportunities and we are seeking passionate and committed individuals to fill these positions.
These roles are crucial in shaping the student experience and ensuring that our campuses are vibrant, inclusive and student centric.

How You Can Help:

Please help us get the word out about the current open expression of interest process by sharing it with your active and engaged students or any student you think would make a great student leader. Your support in reaching out to potential candidates will greatly contribute to the success of these vital student initiatives.

Available Positions:

Student Representative Council (SRC): Advocate for student interests and contribute to university decision-making processes e.g. SSAF.
Student Editors: Shape the narrative of our student publications, and engage the campus community through storytelling.
Volunteer Framework Working Group: Collaborate on developing a framework that will shape the future of volunteerism and community engagement at Western.

Student Commitment:
Students are expected to complete all required training set to them by their mentoring support staff and will be required to attend all meetings of their relevant committee. The SRC and the Student Publications Committee each meet on a minimum monthly basis. Students who are members of the Volunteer Framework Working Group may be required to meet with the rest of the working group or sub-groups between a monthly to quarterly basis. All students should expect to adhere to any actions assigned to them by their respective committee, follow up, and return to their committees with valuable student insights that they can contribute from their own perspectives and insights from their peers.

How to Share:

Spread the word through your departmental newsletters, class announcements, and social media channels. Encourage students to consider these leadership opportunities and apply before the deadline of Midnight May 26th.
